I am delighted that three of my paintings are hanging in great company this month! Two paintings, "On Her Laser," and "Study of Arya 1" were juried into the Belmont Art Association's show, "2020 Vision: What We See," by juror Gillian Ross from Gallery Twist, and will be on display through February 28, 2020. Meanwhile, my painting "American Lobster, Study 2" was included by jurors, Emily Eveleth and Penn Young, in Concord Art Association's "Members Juried 1" Exhibit and will be on display until February 9th.
In the exhibit, “A Closer Look,” artist Susan Johnson examines familiar animal species from multiple angles and encourages viewers to see them anew. Exploring the line between realism and abstraction, Johnson moves each subject away from the context of its environment and utilizes negative space and cast shadow to draw attention to color, texture and movement. This exhibit portrays a selection of species found in the marine environment of mid-coast Maine and the New England countryside.
